Lecture series ‘Transformation of our world’

“The colour scheme adopts the 17 colours of the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) approved by the United Nations. The circular lines are reminiscent of hula hoops and give the design a playful and lively touch.”

Task

The studio developed a key visual and accompanying communication materials for three series of events in the “Lecture series – Transforming our world” on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The design combines a world map indicated in the background with dynamic, coloured circular lines. Each destination is represented by a specific colour. This was also used in the titles of the respective event years to emphasise the thematic focus of the year. The design included a stage backdrop, a leaflet with event announcements, posters, e-mail invitations and a roll-up. The studio integrated design elements from the corporate design of the GIZ representative office, such as the use of grey, but combined these with a unique typography, as the event series was a collaboration between several organisations.

Context

The lecture series brought together experts from various fields who presented their approaches and perspectives on implementing the global sustainability goals. The series was organised by the Representative Office together with changing partner organisations such as the Engagement Global initiative, Humboldt University and the Catholic University of Applied Social Sciences. The events took place at different locations each year, which also required an adaptation of the commissioned communication media.
