Border crossers –
refugee women between trauma management and empowerment
“The motif of refugee women emphasises self-empowerment and strength by showing the female figures as active and self-confident. This is further emphasised by the movement of the figures.”
Task
For the panel discussion at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the studio designed an illustration as a key visual that focuses on refugee women from different cultural backgrounds. The orange colour specified by the BMZ was combined with the grey from the ministry's corporate design to create a warm and lively atmosphere. The key visual was projected onto the back wall of the stage during the event and used for other communication materials such as a roll-up, the lectern sign and the invitation to the event.
Context
To mark the International Day against Violence against Women, Parliamentary State Secretary Dr Maria Flachsbarth hosted an evening event. During a panel discussion, the challenges and opportunities in supporting women and girls in refugee situations were debated.
